Avoid Online Scams!

Unfortunately, there are people trolling the internet trying everyway possible to scam people out of money! Here are a few tips to ensure you don't get scammed:

• Deal with people locally!!!! - If there is not someone local willing to meet with you, there is a good chance they are attempting to scam you. This is the most common scam occurring on classified listing sites.
• The rental property is local but the owner claims to be traveling or away on work and ask for money to be wired.
• The owner ask for payment before giving you the ability to view the apartment or house.
• Never agree to wire funds via Western Union, Moneygram or any similar service prior to viewing a property.
• Never accept more than the amount owed if ask to then pass money to a 3rd party. Many times the check will be fake and by the time you find out, you have already given money to the 3rd party and your bank will hold you responsible for the entire amount of the fake check.
• If it seems to good to be true, it probably is.
